Who am I?
They said having kids would end my traveling days forever, but I guess I proved them wrong. I’ve had some of my most memorable trips since I had my first son in 2021. With my second born in 2024, I managed to stay away from traveling for 6 months before I went crazy and booked a solo trip with both of them. So this blog is about my love for travel and the ways I immerse myself in a place pre- and post-trip. It’s essentially a diary to remember the fun places we’ve been.
Why is it called Hotel Crawl? In 2018 my friend and I coined the term as a way to enjoy another one of my key hobbies — hotels. We would pick a place and then do a crawl from one hotel to another, often just staying for one night, enjoying as many hotel amenities as we could, and packing it in before doing it all over again in another hotel. In 2023, I combined this with bringing my 2-year-old son on holiday too! I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some pretty amazing hotels… some of my favourites being the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne (despite the window in our room exploding) and the Peninsula London (that view overlooking Wellington Arch… wow).
So I’ll be writing about all of my trips in the last few years, the hotels I’ve stayed in, and the many travelogues and books I’ve read about travel. This blog is just for fun, really, although I’ll link to places, tours and books I mention as I go (and will receive a referral fee if you choose to purchase. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases). But this isn’t really about monetizing anything — this is more for me to have a log of the places I’ve been and the amazing experiences I’ve had.
Sometimes it’s been luxurious, sometimes it’s been incredibly stressful (usually due to traveling alone with a toddler in tow and now two kids), but I’ve always felt that doing something hard like this is worthwhile. I come out of my trips exhilarated, usually exhausted, and always ready to plan another one after a little bit of hibernation.
